Combining various disciplines of photography (candid, concert, documentary, etc.) while fusing elements of creative writing and journalism, the purpose of Take Cover and Shoot is to evocatively chronicle the live music experience; from the artists who perform, to the people who watch, and anything that falls in between.
Influenced by the zines and music publications of my youth and fueled by a life-long love of music, history and journalism, I started this website in 2010 as an effort to document and archive live music performances.
In September of 2011, Entertainment editor Julio Diaz gave me the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of Troy Moon by asking me to write a weekly music column for the Pensacola News Journal. The “Music Matters” column currently runs every Friday in the Weekender section of the PNJ. It even includes a Top 10 list of readers’ favorite albums just like the Moon column’s I read as a teenager.
