Getting down close and personal with the Pensacola crowd, Dryden Mitchell jumped off stage and into the audience, not once, but twice during Alien Ant Farm’s set at Vinyl Music Hall.

On a night where everyone in the downtown venue got up, got down and got up close and personal with all of the bands on the bill, Pensacola group Captions kicked of the show with their indie rock sound. Having recently played Summerfest and select dates on the Vans Warped Tour, Captions (Cory Williams (vocals), Jordan Hunter (guitar, vocals), Christopher Keranen (guitar), Stephan Vance (guitar, keyboard), Brandon Gouge (bass), Daz Sevilla (drums) heated up the Vinyl Music Hall crowd.

Making their way to the stage and supporting Alien Ant Farm on their tour were Me Talk Pretty from New York City. Led by Uliana Preotu (vocals), Leon Lyazidi (guitar, keyboards), Guerin Blask (drums) and Nate Meng (bass) the group have been performing their alternative rock sound throughout the country including dates on the Vans Warped Tour and SXSW.

Having recently kicked off their ANTicipation 2011 Tour in July, Alien Ant Farm hit the Vinyl Music Hall stage. With an acoustic EP in the works, Mitchell went into hyper-drive as he worked the crowd along with Tye Zamora (bass/crazy-mad face contortions), Terry Corso (guitar), and Mike Cosgrove (drums). Leaving no audience member untouched, Mitchell playfully grabbed cell phones and took pictures mid-song and during “Movies” (my favorite AAF song) the energized vocalist took the first of two plunges into the audience to belt out the tune and lead everyone in a grand rock-a-long.
