I’ve never seen it before, but I hope to see it again. Earl Lyon, frontman and founder of Pensacola’s longest running punk band, put down his guitar and finished the band’s set like a punk rock crooner.
As the headlining act of Vinyl Music Hall’s Punk Rock Holiday Local Showcase, Earl’s Killer Squirrel finished off a night that included Nik Flagstar & His Dirty Mangy Dogs, Operation Hennessey, and Guts For Glory.
I instantly recognized Lyon’s mic stance from his nights of singing karaoke at Sir Richards Lounge.
Will it happen again?
Who knows.
Should it happen again?
Hell yes!
